Nissan's redesigned 2023 Altima is one of our favorite options for daily Burlington, NC driving. This popular new Nissan model has been completely redesigned and now features an updated exterior and a new platform. Its rear sonar system has also been enhanced to detect objects in your blind spot even faster than before. The LED headlights and the new grille give the Altima an aggressive look while maintaining its elegance.
Performance
The sedan has two engine options, both of which are paired with a continuously variable transmission. The first is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that powers the forward wheel with 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. The available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive will automatically engage when it detects wheel slippage.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four cylinder powers the front-wheel-drive with 236 horsepower with regular fuel and 248 horsepower with octane fuel. The SR trim features a sport-tuned suspension that improves its handling and makes for a smoother ride. The sedan's steering has been improved for a more responsive and direct feel.
Sport mode is activated by a button on the center console. In this mode, the transmission shifts gears at higher speeds, and the throttle response is quicker. The suspension is also stiffer in Sport mode, which gives the Altima better handling at high speeds.
Technology
The Altima's infotainment display can now come as a 12.3-inch touchscreen on the SV trim and standard on higher trims. You can navigate this system by tapping the screen or using voice commands, and there are physical knobs for volume control. The 2023 Altima also features an updated instrument panel design with a new 7-inch digital driver's display.
Safety Features
The 2023 Altima comes standard with the ProPilot Assist suite of driver-assistance and safety features. These include automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and lane departure warning, among many others.
